We collected another batch of solid videos, mostly new-ish, but all great! Featuring a new one from Ty Segall, Australia’s Pipe-eye, The Coathangers, Stef Chura, Adult., a classic live performance from The B-52’s, a tribute to DIY venue Non Plus Ultra, and more. Who needs cable television when you got all this great entertainment?!? FEED YOUR HEAD!
Ty Segall – “Break A Guitar”
Ty does it again! With help from Fred Armisen, Henry Rollins, and Jack Black, the video is a trippy kaleidoscope of chaos that pairs well with the jam-tastic tune from Ty’s most recent, self-titled record. – Mat
Pipe-eye – “Sweets and Treats”
Don’t know a whole lot about Pipe-eye other than they’ve joined Australia’s Flightless Records roster along with King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, ORB, and The Murlocs. But what I DO know is that this song and video are ultra addicting! Fantastical, sugar-coated psych backed by a trippy claymation-style video about the dangers of “sweets and treats.” – Mat
Stef Chura – “Spotted Gold”
Stef Chura’s video for “Spotted Gold” has a zany weirdness to it that perfectly suits the tune. It’s simple but there’s something to it. The bold, colorful backgrounds and weird vignettes feel like a modern twist of something David Byrne would do. And I’m a big fan of that. – Sergio
The Coathangers – “Captains Dead”
The video for “Captains Dead” looks like it was a lot of fun to make. It features a group of zombie cheerleaders dancing while the band plays, chills and drinks pbr. – Sergio
The B-52’s – “Give Me Back My Man”
Prime B-52’s right here. Serious display of what makes the Athens, GA band so essential. Cindy Wilson kills the solo vocals and her boogie down moves just after the 2-min mark are an inspiration to how I wish I could dance through life. – Mat
HOTT MT – “At Night In China Town”
The peeps behind HOTT MT pay tribute to Non Plus Ultra, the venue they helped bring about, in their newest video. According to the band, they had always wanted a video of the crew behind NPU cleaning up the space as they did together after each large event, which they say provided them with some of their “favorite times” in the space. They also issued the following statement in association with the vid:
“All of us at Non Plus Ultra have been together for years. Our ideals brought us together, and we built a space and a business on them. Non Plus Ultra showed us that we aren’t alone in our desires. There are so many people in this town who share our values. We’ve made and lost spaces before, but this time we’ve got an incredible support system.”

Adult. – “Inside”
Since Detroit’s electropunk bangers Adult. are bringing their amazing live show to the Echoplex in June, it seemed a good time to revisit this “killer” good video from 2008. Adult. have also released a series of pretty solid new ones videos for tracks from their new LP – Detroit House Guests (like this one), but this is the vid that’s stuck with me for a while as exemplifying the dark art that is Adult. (period) – Mat
